Penny & The Shakes formed in Nashville during the summer of 2015 and immediately started gaining national notice for their hooky brand of electro-tinged indie-rock. Their energetic songs are packed with jangly guitar riffs, vintage-meets-modern drum loops, fuzzy analog synth basslines, all spearheaded by unapologetically empowered female-fronted vocals.
Firmly planted in the age of the single, 'Penny' forgoes the traditional album-release approach of the last several decades, releasing a couple songs a month on their website. Self-described "workaholics", the band plans to continue this ambitious workload: "We just want to feed our listeners as quickly as possible; we like to record as we write, as well as self-produce, which lets us get the songs out pretty much immediately".
